Old name, new purpose: why we’ve gone back to RNID

Afternoon Tea for RNID

Join the fun with Afternoon Tea for RNID, where every sip of tea and every slice of cake can make a difference to over 18 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.

How does Afternoon Tea for RNID work?

Whether it’s in your home, garden, workplace or local community hall, simply organise an afternoon tea that fits your style.

Invite guests, enjoy delicious treats and raise vital funds for RNID through ticket sales, donations and fundraising activities.

Raffles, games and donation stations with collection boxes and QR codes also work well.

Raise awareness

As the tea brews, invite your guests to take RNID’s hearing check. It only takes three minutes – the same time it takes to brew the perfect cuppa.

As you enjoy your tea, learn some British Sign Language (BSL) together using our fingerspelling sheet (why not try to fingerspell the name of your favourite cake?), or explore our communication tips to find out about changes you can make when communicating to make sure everyone is included in the conversation.

How will my afternoon tea help?

Deaf people and people with hearing loss or tinnitus face barriers in almost every part of daily life. Even getting a hot drink from a noisy café can have its challenges.

By hosting an Afternoon Tea for RNID you’ll play your part in creating a more inclusive, deaf aware community.

Every penny raised through your Afternoon Tea for RNID will break down these barriers and help to change attitudes, connect people to advice and support, and pioneer life-changing treatments for hearing loss and tinnitus.
