How you can benefit from JobSense

A specialist employment advisor will work with you on a one-to-one basis, trained in sensory loss awareness. Many of our advisors have lived experience of hearing or sight loss, and use British Sign Language (BSL). The advisors will:

  • review your education, work history, skills, interests and goals
  • help you explore learning and training opportunities
  • support you to overcome any barriers in accessing information, communicating or travelling
  • help you create your CV, search and apply for jobs, as well as interview preparation.

JobSense supports employers to successfully recruit deaf people, and those with hearing loss or sight loss. The advisors can:

  • provide information about hearing and sight loss awareness training
  • support you to interpret and implement employment legislation
  • advise you about Access to Work (the Government fund to provide practical support for a person in work)
  • guide you to make reasonable adjustments and support you with work trials.
