Register to vote

You can register online or by post to vote. All you need is:

If you move house or change your name or nationality you will need to register to vote again. 

Register online

You can register online to vote in under five minutes. 

Register by paper form

You can also complete a paper form to register to vote for the part of the country you live in. There is a different form for England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Or you can contact your local Electoral Registration Office and ask them to post a form to you.

Check if you are registered to vote

If you have voted in the past, you may already be registered to vote.

If you live in England, Wales or Scotland you can contact your local Electoral Registration Office to check. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can find out through an online service.

Every year in England, Scotland and Wales, your local Electoral Registration Office will contact you by post to check if the names on the Electoral Register are correct for your address.
